Bio
I am originally from the vastness of suburbia called Southern California - San Diego more specifically.  I moved North for school and trees.

I excelled in Math, Science and Computers until people started telling me what I must do with my life.  Although the sciences never left me, I immersed myself in the arts -- video, photography and music.

I have been playing guitar since I was 14 years old.  I've taken private lessons from many amazing teachers.  I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2000 with a BA in Music with an emphasis in Classical Guitar Performance and Electronic Music.  2003 I received my MA in Music Composition.  Degrees in Music  give you nothing but an excuse to go on for another degree, eventually ending up teaching for a University somewhere.

This summer I will teach the History and Traditions of the Guitar at UCSC for the 5th time.  This class is extremely fun, covering guitar history, performers, composers, repertoire, traditions, and styles – classical and non-classical – from around the world.  Last year I had some amazing guests come in and give some first hand stories.

In addition to teaching private lessons I can also be seen playing solo or in the Santa Cruz Guitar Duo from Monterey to San Francisco.

Fractal
Playing with Fractal has allowed me to explore everything I have only studied about.  Now I finally feel the music coming out.  Improvisation is an extremely important tool in composing and exploring music.  Mainly, this link pretty much sums things up...
