CommentsThe second in our series of 3 gigs at the Quarternote. As usual chaos reigned. Someone at the QNote had double booked us and the other group were to play after us, making it 4 bands in a night! Also the mightly ground hum remained ever present. The exact opposite of the sound guy, who was never to be located again at one of our gigs here. We determined not to play here after this set of 3 gigs. I wonder whether we'll stick to it! Anyway, inspite of all of this the gig went well. This was the first time I [Paul] had seen Headshear and I was most impressed - an excellent band playing complex, yet reasonably accessible, guitar based prog/math rock. I can whole heartedly recommend them. After their set, Loop.pooL - Rick Walker, a one man looping project, was kind enough to take the stage between Headshear and ourselves. He made some quite remarkable noises/ambience/moods with a collection of instruments and objects. Again very interesting and enjoyable. Somewhat less accessible than Headshear in some ways, but a lot of fun nonetheless, in my opinion. After a 25/30 minute set from Rick, it was our turn. We debuted Fractional and Reflexion (Coda) both still works in progress at this time. These were preceeded by a lengthy improv, which was a sort of attempt at a sound check. For some in the audience this became their favorite number. We may make a habit of having Improvertures, so to speak. As usual the audience was friendly and we had a very enjoyable night. Having 4 bands play has its upside! Thanks to all of you who came to join us in any capacity - audience, other bands, hecklers...
